‘STAR TREK 3’ Set For Summer 2016 Release

As we reported earlier this week, Fast & Furious franchise director Justin Lin will direct the third installment in the Paramount Pictures, Bad Robot and Skydance Productions rebooted Star Trek film.

Variety reports that the film will be released on July 8, 2016 — to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the original television series.

‘Star Trek 3’, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, will open a week after Steven Spielberg’s The BFG and Warner Bros.’ live-action Tarzan.

Orci, who was originally slated to direct the film, will stay on as a producer. Lin takes the helm from J.J. Abrams, who is directing Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.
