Chris Pine: Simon Pegg Is The “Perfect Fit” To Write STAR TREK 3

While promoting his new movie Z for Zachariah at the Sundance Film Festival, Chris Pine discussed Simon Pegg being tapped to co-write the third Star Trek film.

“We are worried,” Pine joked. He continued, saying the film would contain, “vast, vast Simon Pegg monologues.”

From the sound of it, Pegg may have been worried the new co-writer role may cause issues with his castmates.

“Yeah, he sent an e-mail to all of us, and we’re all really excited,”` Pine said. “What we enjoy about it is that we have a laugh. We want to make sure that that’s still embedded in there, so to have Simon writing it is the perfect fit.”

“We are quite literally the last people in production to read the script,” Pine stated dryly. “I get calls from… Catering, they’re like, ‘Hey, great script man! You have some fun stuff to do!’ ”

STAR TREK 3, directed by Justin Lin, is scheduled to be released on July 8, 2016 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the franchise.
