Shatner Helps Verify Fellow Star Trek Actors On Twitter

Earlier this month, the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, helped some of his fellow Star Trek actors get verified on Twitter.

Traditionally reserved for celebrities, journalists, and notable media personalities, the blue “verified” checkmark is used to help users differentiate between real accounts and imposters. It is sought after by many users as a mark of authenticity or to signify popularity.

Shatner, who has more than 2 million followers on Twitter, noticed that some actors from the various Star Trek series had yet have the check appear beside their usernames.

After contacting the popular micro-blogging company, Shatner was able to help Patrick Stewart from The Next Generation, Robert Duncan McNeill and Robert Picardo from Voyager, and Nana Visitor from Deep Space Nine get verified.

While we’re not verified, I welcome you to follow @TrekNewsnet on Twitter for the latest Star Trek news, photos and giveaways.
