STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Tie-In Books, Comics Announced

Next year, fans will be able to delve deeper into the world of Star Trek: Discovery with a comic book and novel series that was announced by Kirsten Beyer on Saturday at the Star Trek Mission: New York convention.

Star Trek: Discovery books and comics coming from Simon & Schuster and IDW

Revealed during the Discovery writers panel that also included Nicholas Meyer, Beyer announced that CBS Consumer Products will be working with IDW and Simon & Schuster on the tie-in project. Beyer, who is both on Bryan Fuller’s Discovery writing staff and has written multiple installments of the Voyager relaunch book series, will be the liaison between CBS, IDW and Simon & Schuster. She’ll be working with David Mack (Star Trek: Destiny) and Mike Johnson (Star Trek: Boldly Go).

Both the novels and comics are said to be timed with the release of the new series that will hit CBS All Access in January.

While Star Trek: Discovery won’t debut on the service until January 2017, current CBS All Access subscribers have access to every episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. You can sign up at cbs.com/allaccess.

The first episode of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere with a broadcast TV special on CBS. That episode and all subsequent episodes will be exclusively shown in the US on the video streaming service CBS All Access.

Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller and Rod Roddenberry have been announced as executive producers, with Nicholas Meyer (director of The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country and co-writer of The Voyage Home) is serving as a writer and consulting producer.
