[STLV PREVIEW] Picard, Discovery, TMP’s 40th Anniversary Highlight Star Trek Las Vegas

Star Trek Las Vegas 2019 Preview

With San Diego Comic-Con now in the rearview mirror, Creation Entertainment’s Star Trek Las Vegas event is set to descend upon the Rio Hotel in Sin City.

This year’s event will see the return of the Star Trek: Discovery cast, along with the Jean-Luc Picard: First Duty exhibit, a Q&A with Star Trek: Lower Decks‘ writer/producer Mike McMahan, a Star Trek: The Motion Picture 40th anniversary retrospective, Klingon Karaoke, plus a star-studded guest list that includes William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anson Mount, Jason Isaacs, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and many more.

The convention will once again span five days this year at the Rio, kicking off on Wednesday, July 31st, through Sunday, August 4th.

Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, the Jean-Luc Picard: The First Duty exhibit celebrates Patrick Stewart’s involvement in Star Trek and will be on hand for fans to view in Las Vegas. It will showcase original props, costumes and other artifacts from Picard’s life and Starfleet career (from Star Trek: The Next Generation, feature films and the upcoming Star Trek: Picard series), including the Ressikan flute, items from the Picard Vineyard, Starfleet uniforms, a family photo album, models, paintings and the remains of the Borg Queen.

Beaming down from their big SDCC panel, Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), Doug Jones (Saru), Anson Mount (Christopher Pike), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Ethan Peck (Spock), James Frain (Sarek), Jason Isaacs (Capt. Gabriel Lorca), Shazad Latif (Ash Tyler), Mary Chieffo (L’Rell), Kenneth Mitchell (Kol/Tenavik), Emily Coutts (Keyla Detmer), Oyin Oladejo (Joann Owosekun), Sara Mitich (Airiam/Lt. Nilsson), Patrick Kwok-Choon (Lt. Gen Rhys), Ronnie Rowe (Lt. R.A. Bryce), Jayne Brook (Vice Admiral Katrina Cornwell), Rekha Sharma (Commander Landry) and Clint Howard (Creepy Orion) will take part in panel discussions to look back on the second season of the series and its upcoming third. 

40th anniversary of Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Douglas Trumbull (Special Effects Supervisor) and Rick Sternbach (illustrator), along with Doug Drexler, Michael and Denise Okuda will look back on the first Star Trek feature film, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

At SDCC, David Fein, the producer of the Director’s Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture that was released in 2001, revealed that Paramount was “considering” a 4K Blu-ray version of the movie. While there is no official confirmation that this release is indeed a sure thing, don’t be surprised if more news comes out of STLV.

In addition to the guests mentioned above, William Shatner (James T. Kirk), Kate Mulgrew (Kathryn Janeway), Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Brent Spiner (Data), Michael Dorn (Worf), Gates McFadden (Beverly Crusher), Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), John de Lancie (Q), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax), Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys), Rene Auberjonois (Odo), Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir) Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax), Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker), Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed), Tim Russ (Tuvok), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), Armin Shimerman (Quark), and Robert Picardo (The Doctor) will all be appearing throughout the event.

On Friday, Creation announced the addition of two new guests; Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arc, who will both be in the upcoming Star Trek: Picard series.

In addition to the celebrity panels…

Andorian cosplay

Creation will have recreations of The Original Series Enterprise Bridge, Borg Regeneration Chambers, and the Ten Forward Bar from The Next Generation will be available for photo ops. Quark’s Bar will once again be recreated in one of the ballrooms, with food and beverage options available for con-goers.

Gold, Copper, Captain’s Chair, general admission 5-day and single-day tickets for Star Trek Las Vegas, along with autograph and photo ops, can be purchased at Creation Entertainment’s website.
