Here’s our first look at actress Mary Chieffo as Klingon Battle Deck Commander L’Rell, along with Chris Obi as T’Kuvma on Star Trek: Discovery.

The image first appeared in EW’s San Diego Comic-Con 2017 preview issue. The annual mega convention kicks off next this Wednesday and Discovery will have a big presence at SDCC, with cast and crew members taking part in a 45-minute panel in Ballroom 20 on Saturday.

On Saturday, Chieffo herself shared the photo on Twitter with a caption that read “L’Rell LIVES!”.

These Klingons look like a departure from the Kelvin timeline Klingons from the reboot movies. Is Discovery really going to be another reboot? Must Hollywood reboot all the things?

WHY DO THE KLINGONS LOOK SO DIFFERENT?! Please, please, please let this not be another pointless redesign of the entire people, but instead have a specific story reason for why this Klingon and all the others we’ve seen look so unlike any Klingons we’ve seen before…
