Idris Elba Talks STAR TREK BEYOND

Idris Elba, the British actor, producer, singer, rapper, and DJ, who is best known for playing Russell “Stringer” Bell in the HBO series The Wire and Stacker Pentecost in Pacific Rim, is in early talks to play the villain in the next Star Trek film.

It’s being speculated that Elba would potentially play a Klingon.

According to Variety, details of Elba’s role are being kept under wraps. Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case. Paramount and Skydance had no comment.

Elba will star in Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Jungle Book and Bastille Day.

Star Trek 3, directed by Justin Lin and starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin will hit theaters on July 8, 2016. The film will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

..im echoing what I just wrote on another site with this news but .. Ill repeat myself and add my voice to some above and millions of other fans when it was rumored Kahn or the villain antagonist was going to be used..why does Trek have to have a “villain”?? this is the same thinking Berman pushed and you see what happened to the Next Gen movies. Yes, The Wrath of Kahn has been considered the best and the poor attempt with Into Darkness proved it isn’t necessary RE The Voyage Home which IMO was true Trek

Damn, I always hoped he would play Captain Sisko in a DS9 reboot.

now THAT is a great idea. DS9 had the biggest possibility of a reboot. Bring Sisko back and keep going.

the truthis that you have to have a villan why because there has to be some reality in how real life is or it will turn into strait fantasy sci fi to me it would sadly be boring you have to have real life situations to solve the problems that is true trek
