According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Riverside, Iowa’s TrekFest has been saved.
As we reported here on TrekNews, the possibility of the festival not taking place this year arose when the city of Riverside pulled funding for the annual event, which takes place in the “future birthplace of James T. Kirk”. Luckily, The Mindbridge Foundation stepped up last week and voted unanimously to give the final $5,000 needed to ensure the event would take place.
The Mindbridge Foundation is an organization based in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City which helps organize sci-fi, anime and gaming conventions in Eastern Iowa.
“Our role is to promote science fiction and give back, and TrekFest is a wonderful thing that is deserving of that support.” Said Mindbridge representative Dennis Lynch.
TrekFest take place as scheduled June 24 – 25

Great to hear it. I love to see some of these smaller festivals and cons continue.
