Watch William Shatner Roast Charlie Sheen [Video]

Charlie Sheen

William Shatner was one of the guest stars at The Roast of Charlie Sheen, which premiered Monday night on Comedy Central.

As he was welcomed on stage, Seth McFarlane, who hosted the show, described Shatner as “The guy who played Captain Kirk back before Star Trek looked like a bunch of gay guys working in a Mac store,”.

Shatner, who himself has been the focus of a similar roast in 2006, took several jabs at Sheen. He joked about Sheen’s appearance, saying “I’m 80 years old,” proceeding to inquire about Sheen’s age [who is 46] and asked “How come it looks like we went to high school together?”.

Shatner went on to tell Sheen to “slow down and smell the roses,” saying “that’s why I’ve had such a storied and illustrious career. Because I’m patient”.

“I’ve had my share of wild times with the señoritas. I’ve had sex in space with green women,” said Shatner.

He continued, saying that if he wanted the kind of attention Sheen has been getting recently, he’d have to do something drastic, “like kiss a black girl or let an asian drive,”.

The Roast of Charlie Sheen will be replayed all week on Comedy Central and is available on iTunes.

“The guy who played Captain Kirk back before Star Trek looked like a bunch of gay guys working in a Mac store,”

    Ha! Funny because it’s true.

Oh, yes, yes… young minds, fresh reboots. Be tolerant.

        😀

Tolerant? You need the patience of a Saint to wait for this lot to put something on screen.
And i’m starting to share your concern’s about their ability to do something new and original.
I saw your comments on ‘that other Trek site’ regarding the Comic rehashing of original stories with the Mac Shop Crew and I couldn’t agree with you more.
They need to come up with something not seen before.
Do they have it in them? I’m really not sure.

Well, thanks for coming around to my viewpoint on this, Buzz, but… deep down I really wish I was WRONG about these guys. I want nothing more than the next movie to be the greatest, the most exciting, most thought-provoking, most important, profound Trek movie ever made!!!

But looking over the other movies and projects they’ve done (Transformers 1 & 2, Cowboys & Aliens), I just get this sinking feeling that it’s not going to be a happy experience come 2012… or 2013… or whenever they get around to it. Oh, it will probably make a ton of money whether you and I (and the majority of professional critics) hate the thing or not, but as Mr. Bernstein said in Citizen Kane: “There’s no trick to making a lot of money… if all you wanna do is make a lot of money.” And I get an even worse feeling when I see Orci on that “other site” defending his Transformers flicks with “Hey, they made millions of dollars.” Oh brother.

Anyway, here’s hoping for the best, mate!

Just to clarify a little, Vults, I am still all for the new cast playing the original characters its just I don’t wish to see any more stories being retold. They were told more than well enough originally.
But, and this is where our views converge, the writers only seem able to take old idea’s and character’s for their template. Be it Trek, 5-0 or Transformers….. there is a bit of a pattern forming!
I know what you are saying about odd defences of their work. I was once told on TM that I couldn’t criticise them because I hadn’t made and released a Hollywood movie!
As I explained, I’ve never built a car either but I do know a nice one when I drive it!

Actually I don’t mind seeing new actors playing the classic characters, either. The cast was the best part of the last movie. I look forward to seeing them again, but the lines they may have to deliver… well, that’s another story—hmm, in this case I guess it’s all about story and nothing else. Writers write, they say. I just wish tracing paper wasn’t part of the process.  😉

And that seem’s like a good point to leave that conversation, at least for the time being. 😉

Here’s a link to something that might be of interest to you, Vults..

Thanks for the link, Buzz. Great article! I’m hoping May’s “Man Lab” show comes to the States on BBC-America. And after reading that, I am grateful I grew up with woodworking and lathes and model airplanes and all those other testosterone fueled hobbies of wonder. Great stuff!

Oh, and if Jeremy Clarkson is the Devil, consider me one of his minions.  😉

I watched most of the roast last night. While funny, at times it borderlines on the guests being downright mean to eachother. The end where Steve O runs into Tyson’s hand and breaks his nose is just… I don’t even know, dumb.
