Takei Takes The Captain’s Chair In New Taco Bell Commercial

As Star Trek‘s Hikaru Sulu, George Takei is no stranger to the captain’s chair, and now — thanks to Taco Bell’s latest Quesalupa commercial — he’s back in the big seat.

At 78-years-old, Takei is best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek and has recently been seen on Broadway in the World War II musical “Allegiance”.

Experiencing a career revival, due in part to his appearances on The Howard Stern Show, Takei has become a major Internet celebrity over the last decade, with nearly 9.5 million likes on his Facebook page and 1.8 million followers on Twitter.

You can watch the meme-heavy Taco Bell commercial, titled, “The Internet Is Talking”, below.

I don’t think he was sitting in the Captain’s chair. I think it was supposed to be the queen’s throne.

No, the internet is not “raving” about Quesalupa. What a cheap tacky advert. Takei is making himself look like a fool.
