Star Trek Discovery was awarded two Saturn Awards by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films for Best New Media Television Series and Sonequa Martin-Green as Best Actress on a Television Series.
Discovery‘s Executive Producer Heather Kadin, Producer Aaron Baiers, and cast members Mary Chieffo and Kenneth Mitchell accepted the awards during Wednesday night’s 44th annual ceremony in Burbank, Calif.
Discovery bested Altered Carbon, Black Mirror, The Handmaid’s Tale, Mindhunter, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, and Stranger Things for the Best New Media award. Sonequa Martin-Green beat out Gillian Anderson, Caitriona Balfe, Melissa Benoist, Lena Headey, Adrianne Palicki, Sarah Paulson, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for Best Actress.
Disney-Marvel’s Black Panther took home a whopping five wins awards, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi won three.
TV series Better Call Saul and Twin Peaks both won three each. AMC’s The Walking Dead matched Discovery with two wins.
Discovery is currently in production of its second season and is set to return in 2019.

Best new media TV series?… yeah, containing a rehash of just about every other sci-fi film, and even a scene that looked like it was a Negan scene right out of The Walking Dead.
