Every Live Action Star Trek Series Now Available on Amazon Prime

Star Trek on Amazon Prime

This week Amazon added every live action series of Star Trek to Prime members catalog. This includes Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. Star Trek: The Animated Series is the only series not available on the service.

While Netflix subscribers will have to wait until October 1st to stream episodes of Deep Space Nine through their service, Amazon Prime members can do so right now.

Amazon Prime is available for $79 per year and is available through the Amazon.com website along with various set top box devices.

Amazon is currently offering a free one-month trial of the service, which also includes free two-day shipping and $3.99 one-day shipping on all qualifying product orders through amazon.com.

So this will in fact be cheaper than Netflix if all I’m really looking for is Star Trek streaming, right?

I’ve been wanting to re-watch DS9. While this may be the option for me, I hate the idea of being tied to my computer screen to watch TV shows.

I can not get the Trek episodes to play on my Panasonic blu-ray player with Amazon on Demand. What’s up with that?

Absolutely love it. We’re watching DS9 as a family with the kids right now, an episode a night. I’ve picked up a few episodes of Enterprise, too – missed most of that series on TV. And it’s not just Star Trek, either – my wife tore through a couple of seasons of Torchwood, she’s watching Dr. Who, and SG-1 is available as well.

Amazing collection of video up there for viewing! And for free, basically, because we were already Prime subscribers just for the shipping savings on books. It’s gotten good enough we’re considering buying a device which will let us stream Amazon video on our TV, and dropping our cable (which we don’t use often anyway).

As a science fiction/fantasy writer, Amazon bringing back all these wonderful SF shows has my complete stamp of approval.  =)  Very happy!
