The German Amazon website (amazon.de) released cover art for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of the Star Trek: The Next Generation sampler disc, which is scheduled to be released on December 12.

The front packaging describes the disc as “Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Next Level, A Taste of TNG in High Definition”.

As we previously reported, CBS is expected to announce the release this Wednesday, September 28th.

The episodes to be included on the disc include “Encounter at Farpoint” parts 1 and 2, “The Inner Light”, and “Sins of the Father”.

I didn’t buy a bluray player when the movies came out, I didn’t buy a bluray player when Star Wars came out. I WILL buy a bluray player for this though! So excited!!

I adopted blu-ray in 2007, but that is because I am a tech junkie lol, I want the best.  But when it comes to the Star Trek movies, those not wanting to spend the money should hold out, simply because the Star Trek movies on blu-ray are all the theatrical versions, not like the directors or collectors editions on DVD (which I wish I still had.)  There were some great additions made to the DVD versions of TMP, TWOK, and UD.  But your are correct, TNG in HD is so worth it.

The original series was so beautifully cleaned up, scaled into HD, and the new special effects gave the series that added epic feeling.  The anticipation to see what they have done with TNG is mounting.  When they showed the 1701D in a CG version (as opposed to a model) at the end of the last episode of Enterprise I had a feeling that TNG special effects were going to be remastered.  Once they knew it could be done, it was only a matter of time.

    See what I mean.

    From 1:45 on.
