Following Tuesday’s rumor of Michelle Yeoh being cast in the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series, it is now being reported that the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon actress will play a Starfleet Captain.
It should be noted that Yeoh’s character will captain the Starship Shenzhou and not the show’s featured ship, the Discovery.
This marks the first official cast member of the series, which is now scheduled to premiere in May.
Bryan Fuller, who was originally announced as Discovery showrunner, has since stepped down but will act as a producer on the new series.
The first episode of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere with a broadcast TV special on CBS in May. That episode and all subsequent episodes will be exclusively shown in the U.S. on the video streaming service CBS All Access.

Han Bo, Han Solo… The two names are a bit alike and I would have gone with something else.

Or maybe it’s a fairly unsubtle tip of the hat to the hanbō – a staff used in martial arts.

Remember, this is an eastern language. Her given name is Bo, not Han.
