Following last week’s announcement of Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp and Michelle Yeoh officially being cast in Star Trek: Discovery, it now appears that set construction for the new series will be completed next month and shooting will begin sometime in January.
As we’ve previously reported, the CBS All Access series will film at Toronto’s Pinewood Studios and is scheduled to begin airing next spring.
The first episode of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere with a broadcast TV special on CBS in May. That episode and all subsequent episodes will be exclusively shown in the U.S. on the video streaming service CBS All Access.
Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller and Rod Roddenberry will act as executive producers, with Nicholas Meyer (director of The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country and co-writer of The Voyage Home) and Kirsten Beyer serving as a writers and consulting producers. Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts have stepped into the role of show runners, which Fuller vacated in October. Akiva Goldsman will serve in a “top creative role” on the series.

Netflix has it in most foreign markets. I believe another service has it in Canada.

For Canada it will most likely be trough the Space channel or crave.tv since Bell has the rights to Star Trek on TV here

agreed, Bell Media has already stated that Crave TV will be airing Discovery. Looking forward to it.

Crave will only air it after its first run. First run shows will air on Space.

Back then people said that Star Trek without Kirk and Spock would suck… Then TNG Happened… Roddenberry died and the show became a hit because he stopped giving notes and rewriting the scripts… Fuller wrote the pilot and the outline for the season, there are competent writers and producers to continue his work, it’s not a one man operation.

Ironically TNG did suck for the first two years. But those were the olden days when shows were given a little time to develop.

The fact that there’s a gay character on the show is going to cause no end of hilarious commentary when the series finally launches. I plan to chill until CBS All Access puts the whole thing up (I can’t deal with this wait-a-week crap anymore) and then I’ll have a good laugh reading all their salty and futile commentary.

I’ll wait and see. I want to see Doug Jones as the Spock/Data/Odo character. That alone is worth sampling CBS All Access for.
