New 'Picard' Movie and TV Collection Coming to Blu-ray

Best of Jean-Luc Picard coming to Blu-ray in October

Fans looking for a way to catch up on Jean-Luc Picard-centric TV and movies will get the chance thanks to a new collection coming to home media from CBS Home Entertainment.

The Blu-ray collection is billed as the “ultimate primer” for fans as they await the release of Star Trek: Picard in 2020. The Star Trek: Picard Movie and TV Collection includes the following productions:

  • Star Trek: Generations (1994)
  • Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
  • Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)
  • Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
  • “The Best of Both Worlds”
  • “The Chain of Command”

10-hours of previously released special features, including commentaries by TNG cast and crew, deleted scenes, and gag reels, will also be included.

“The Best of Both Worlds,” the two-parter from TNG’s third and fourth seasons, centers around Picard being assimilated by the Borg – likely a major part of the upcoming show, as we’ve seen plenty of Borg imagery from the SDCC trailer.

The two-parter “Chain of Command” in TNG’s sixth season sees Picard embark on a covert mission to destroy Cardassian biological weapons, but he is ultimately captured and tortured by the Cardassians.

The Blu-ray will also come with an exclusive 16-page Star Trek comic book featuring Picard and printed by IDW Publishing.

The set is scheduled to be released on October 15th.

Think season 4 episode 2 “family” would have been worth including as it deals with the fallout of his assimilation also “the inner light” would have been a no brainer as it shows how Picard would have been as a father and grandfather

Huge missed opportunity to not have the episode “Family” to watch after Best of Both Worlds…or The Inner Light for that matter.

This collection is completely pointless, other than the comic. Most of the TNG films are weak, and some of Picard’s best episodes (“Family” and “Inner Light”) aren’t even included.
