It’s official! Following the airing of the show’s sixth episode, CBS has announced that Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for a second season on CBS All Access.
“In just six episodes, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY has driven subscriber growth, critical acclaim and huge global fan interest for the first premium version of this great franchise,” said Marc DeBevoise, President and Chief Operating Officer, CBS Interactive in a press release. “This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the ‘Star Trek’ legacy. We are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished and are thrilled to be bringing fans a second season of this tremendous series.”
Discovery’s premiere on traditional CBS drew a strong 9.6 million viewers prior to its planned move over to the over-the-top service CBS All Access. The show was responsible for record-breaking sign-ups for the service.
Filming of the series’ first season wrapped earlier this month in Toronto.

If all access performs again like it did last night subscribers are gonna cancel. That was horrible.Ten minutes of buffering to watch twenty seconds of footage. audio was out of sync the list goes on. I don’t know what happened but it can’t happen again. it was the same for after trek the service was so messed up lots of people couldn’t play along with the interactive parts of the show.
